2017 Central Valley Go Red For Women Luncheon
Friday, March 17, 2017
Clovis Veterans Memorial District
808 4th Street, Clovis, CA 93612
Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s national cause campaign to increase awareness of heart disease – the leading cause of death for women – and to inspire women and men to take charge of their heart health. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death, behind heart disease and cancer, and a leading cause of serious, long-term disability. These tragedies have different symptoms in women, causing millions of Americans to suffer fatal heart attacks without recognizing the warning signs. All cardiovascular diseases combined claim 1 million lives every year—more than the next 16 causes of death combined and almost twice the number of deaths caused by all forms of cancer.
The Go Red Luncheon is held to educate women about heart health in a fun, educational environment. In addition to a delicious, heart-healthy lunch, Go Red includes a fashion show hosted by our corporate sponsor, Macy’s, featuring local heart survivors. It incorporates an educational breakout session with a medical professional speaking on heart health. The luncheon also includes a Health & Beauty expo, allowing networking with local businesses & professionals. The contributions raised at the Go Red luncheon directly benefit everyone through the continued funding of biomedical research and ongoing educational programs, resulting in lives saved and enhanced health and wellness throughout our community.
